About Me

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Dynamic Locomotion Group of Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Stuttgart, working with Dr. Alexander Badri-Spröwitz on the characterization, modeling, and control for legged robots locomotion on soft and granular substrates.

Before my current appointment, I was a postdoc at the Tripop Team, which is a part of Institut national de recherche en informatique et en automatique (INRIA) Grenoble Rhône-Alpes, Laboratoire Jean Kuntzman (LKJ), Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), Université Grenoble Alpes, and Grenoble INP. At Tripop, I worked along with Guillaume James and Bernard Brogliato, on a project related to the study of multiple-impacts with external loads in granular-bead chains. As a part of this project, we have derived an analytical approximation for the Coefficient of Restitution of spherical objects while considering the effect of external load.

I completed my PhD from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace and Engineering at University of Texas at Arlington, where I was a part of Robotics, Biomechanics, and Dynamic Systems Laboratory and worked with Dr. Alan Bowling. There, my research was on Modeling and Simulation of Contacts and Impacts in Rigid Multibody Dynamics Systems. Following my PhD, I also brieflly worked in the industry as a Performance/Simulation/Application Engineer at ITDDD, Caterpillar Inc (R&D division of Caterpillar), before coming back to academia.

My research interests broadly encompass the areas of Multibody Dynamics, Non-smooth Contact Dynamics, Robotics, and Control. In the future, I plan to work on several application areas such as Soft/Lightweight Robotics, Artificial Muscles, Design Optimization/Automation, Reduced-order modeling, Biomechanics, and Legged Robotic Locomotion.

I went to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas for bachelor's and my hometown is Kolkata (Calcutta), India.
